Relationship to Other Units
Campus units - Campus faculty, staff and administrators are our
customers. We work with departments, colleges and central campus offices to understand their business needs and to translate those into the Data Warehouse environment. We also provide a range of services to those who are active users of the Data Warehouse and/or Business Objects/EDDIE.
Functional Offices - Offices that are custodians of data, such as the Office of Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Human Resources, Office of Business and Financial Services, are our
partners. We work closely with these offices to develop data access plans that protect the confidentiality of data and to understand source systems, such as Banner and P-Card. The staff in Functional Offices are also
customers, when they use the Data Warehouse for their own queries, reports and analysis.
Institutional Research Offices - These offices are our
partners. They provide valuable advice and guidance to Decision Support on a wide range of data-related issues. These offices are also
customers - they often use the Data Warehouse as a resource for the information services they provide to the campuses.
AITS - AITS is our
technical and infrastructure partner. The Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence products that Decision Support manages are hosted on the AITS technical infrastructure (servers, network, databases). We work closely with a wide range of AITS staff every day to ensure that the Data Warehouse is available, operational and efficient. Decision Support also provides some services to AITS, such as publishing the Standard Reports developed by AITS report developers.
University Office for Planning and Budgeting - UOPB is the
supervising unit that the Decision Support department reports to. The head of UOPB, Associate Vice President Douglas Vinzant, is Decision Support's
Executive Sponsor.
