Benefit from the Data Warehouse > Case Studies
Financial Management and Grants Management Business and Resource Managers at all three campuses use the Data Warehouse to obtain the information they need to make decisions and monitor funds. This information is also used by Principal Investigators to manage grant funds.
Financial Desktop The School of Public Health at UIC provides a tool to deliver financial operational information including overall fund status for state, grant, ICR, and self-generated funds. The tool provides drill-down capability to information for each fund, plus interactive detail for the entire FOAP. All of the data is sourced from the Data Warehouse, including detail of Operating Ledge Balances and Payroll, grants inception-to-date and time-slice selection of data.
Grants Management Five research intensive units at the UIUC campus (CEE, MRL, NCSA, Chemical Sciences, and Physics) implemented a Grants Management application for use by Business Managers and Principal Investigators. The information enables them to reconcile accounts and forecast remaining grant funds available for use. Data provided is drawn from multiple subject areas in the Data Warehouse, including finance budget and expense data, job and position data, and payroll accounting detail.
Financial Account Summary The Office of Business and Financial Services at UIS creates reports for use by the colleges and departments showing fund detail rollup for the specific unit.
